Joyous Joy 28: Learning to Diminish Procrastination

A few weeks ago, I went to a mediabistro networking event and came across an opportunity I wasn’t expecting – I was asked to write my first book review!

David Parker, author of “How Many Procrastinators Does it Take to Change a Light Bulb?” introduced himself to me and immediately asked if I was a blogger. Responding “why yes, yes I am” I was glowing inside.

But his next question threw me for a loop – “would you consider yourself a procrastinator?” I said, “no not really, I just have an extremely long list of to-do’s, because there is just simply too much I want to accomplish in life.”His next question, “Is it sometimes hard to get to everything on this list?” was followed with a sheepish “yes, actually it is.”

He assured me that by reading his book I would learn ways to accomplish these goals. His proposition obviously piqued my interest since my goals are so very important to me. I am open to any help I can get with reaching them!

He asked if I would give his book a chance to help me realize these goals and then write a review. I agreed, but gave the disclaimer, “the pile of books on my to-read list is huge, and I promise not to procrastinate on reading it – it may just take me awhile.”

When the book arrived days later, I immediately scanned the table of contents. I can honestly say that I’m intrigued and excited to delve into it. It’s officially on my to-do list – and I am looking forward to crossing it off. Stay tuned for my debut book review!
