Joyous Joy 70: Quite the Fantastic Voyage (however, not with Coolio)

I’ve always known I’d write a book. In fact I knew it from the day I read my 4th grade masterpiece, “Peaches” to my class. It was a riveting story of a fuzzy, little bunny I gave to my music teacher, Miss Sazdanoff (the rave reviews poured in).

Back then social media and blogging weren’t even a twinkle in my big brown eyes. Little did I know that 23 years later, I would be sharing the story of my beautiful professional journey through social media instead of through ink and paper.

Some of you  know that I recently launched a Social Media Strategy & Event Planning company named Red Currant Media! The entire process of building a business has been intense & incredible. I am as gung-ho as ever, but I must admit I had a few doubts along the way.  Continue reading

Joyous Joy 69: Cherry Picking (the Best Way Possible)

There are quite a few “bad” ones on the plate, but the “good” ones in the bowl are getting a rejuvenating bath!

This bowl, once filled to the brim with luscious berries,  accompanied me and a few friends to watch fireworks.

Walking back from the festivities, I smiled inside thinking about what I could make with the remaining juicy cherries – Fresh juice?! Cobbler?! So many ideas raced through my mind!  Continue reading

Joyous Joy 65: My 5 Favorite Things about a Rainy Day

Hundreds of people waited in line with hopes that the rain wouldn't ruin their Googa Mooga fun

Hundreds of people waited in line with hopes that the rain wouldn’t ruin their Googa Mooga fun

Sure, rain can be a huge bummer when it bombards it’s way into our lives at inopportune times. Sometimes it even ruins events, like it recently did for Googa Mooga in Brooklyn a few weeks ago.

But rain doesn’t always have to be a bummer — if you don’t let it be!  Continue reading

Joyous Joy 64: I don’t know what it is, but IT IS (and that is all that matters)

Jab! Cross! Hook! Upper Cut!

Here are two of the best fitness influences in my life! Helen (my teacher) and Lois (my trainer). Love you both!

That’s the 4-punch combo I have been working on in kickboxing class these last couple months. I wish I could say that I’ve mastered it, but I just can’t keep it straight when I have to keep up with the energetic tempo of the music.

About a month ago I twisted my knee in class and wasn’t able to work out for a couple weeks. It was not only frustrating, but painful too (especially living in a city where a ton of walking and stairs are non-negotiable parts of your day).

I returned to class a couple weeks ago with a brace and the determination to not overextend my knee. Continue reading

Joyous Joy 63: Awareness Promoting Fulfillment

While browsing the NY Times this morning, I came across a video called, “This is Water” – and I am glad I found it!

I was expecting it to be focused on the environment, but I was mistaken. It was actually David Foster Wallace‘s brilliant speech to the Kenyon College class of 2005, in which he talked about

“the conscious decision about how to think and what to pay attention to.”

Its message was so aligned with my way of thinking that I just had to share. I hope you choose to make 10 mins of your time to watch it.
